Guest Post – Dr. Seamus Carey, President of Transylvania University

This week, I was moved by the words of Dr. Seamus Carey, President of Transylvania University. Transy is one of the seven partner ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) In Kentucky, along with Lexington Theological Seminary, Midway University, Christian Care Communities, the Kentucky Council of Churches, the Cane Ridge Shrine and Mission Behind Bars and Beyond.

These treasured partnerships demonstrate the breadth and depth of our unique Disciples witness, bringing faith to bear in higher education, senior care, ecumenism, the preservation of our history, and ministering to “the least of these.” These specialized ministries are part of the many and varied ways we share God’s good news in Jesus Christ in our united witness as Kentucky Disciples.

This week, in his blog, President Carey’s words were both pastoral and prophetic. I urge you to spend some time with his reflections and give thanks for his leadership, as we give thanks for the leadership of all our partner institutions and the impact they have on our world,  to the glory of God.

God bless!

CCK General Minister
