Pro-Reconciliation/Anti-Racism Pilot Training Successful

On September 5 and 6, the Pro-Reconciliation/Anti-Racism Team of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Kentucky sponsored a pilot Anti-Racism/Pro-Reconciliation Training at Jeffersontown Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Led by Revs. Syvoskia Bray Pope and Caitlin Simpson, the inaugural training was attended by 15 people including: Susan Bond, Dean Bucalos, Larry Childress, Tommy Cook, Bruce Dobyns, Brian Gerard, Crystal McAliley, Jerry McBroom, Yvonne McCoy, Doug Meister, Joey Pusateri, Rob Shrader and Tanya Tyler.

Covering a wide array of topics, those in attendance were challenged and encouraged by the presentations as this pilot training event will serve as the basis for the Anti-Racism/Pro-Reconciliation initiative that will be offered across the Region over the next several years. The evaluations were very positive and the Reconciliation Team will meet to determine the next steps and future training dates. This training was made possible by funds received from the annual Reconciliation offering. This year’s special Reconciliation offering will be received on September 29 and October 6.
