Ministry Story of FCC, Richmond, Kentucky – “The Kindness Initiative”

One of the most beloved passages in the Bible comes from Micah 6:8,

“He has told you, O mortal, what is good;
and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God?”

One has to be diligent in her search today to find evidence of God’s “requirements” in the world around us. They seem to be in really short supply….except at First Christian Church in Richmond, Kentucky.

Rev. Mark Condrey, Senior Minister of FCC, Richmond, recently shared with me what they are doing to help kindness abound in Richmond. On August 19th, FCC launched  “The Kindness Initiative” believing that “one act of kindness can change someone’s entire day.”

Why? “First Christian Church of Richmond wants to inspire more kindness in our church, community, and world. We hope others will join us as we commit ourselves to 40 days of intentional kindness. Kindness is contagious. Just one act of kindness can inspire others to do the same.”

Indeed it can! I believe it will!

Rev. Condrey extends an open invitation to all Kentucky Disciples to join with the faithful at FCC, Richmond in spreading the kindness God requires of God’s people. How simple! How powerful! How so God-like! Let’s join in the fun! For more information go to: www.facebook.com/groups/fcckindness.
