Implication of Our Philosophy
- While all are welcome to our camps, our worship and
programming will reflect our Christian understanding.
- The Christian Church In Kentucky will give intentional concern
to the needs of all age groups for camp, conference, and retreat
programming.
- In programming for all ages, the Christian Church In Kentucky
will give special attention to how events intersect and fail to
intersect the Outdoor Ministry Philosophy.
- Recruitment and Development of Camp Volunteer Staff Must
Include:
- Background checks completed for each adult volunteer.
- Training of Volunteer Staff about the policies of the Christian
Church In Kentucky that pertain to Outdoor Ministry.
- Vigilance in following up accusations about mis-conduct
following policy set by the Outdoor Ministry Committee and
affirmed by the Board of the Christian Church In Kentucky.
- Training of Volunteer Staff about young people and the culture
in which they live.
- Use of curriculum must be consistent with Outdoor Ministry
philosophy.
- Gender inclusive language, thought, and practice will be
reflected in every aspect of Outdoor Ministry programming,
including curriculum, keynotes, and worship.
- The teaching of how we explore the faith must become as
important as the teaching of the traditions of the church and how
faith is expressed in the church and culture in today's world.
- Success of the Outdoor Ministry program cannot be judged based
on the number of children and youth who attend an experience, but
on the quality of the programs and the consistency of those
programs with the Outdoor Ministry philosophy.
- Programming must seriously pose the question to children, youth
and adults, "What will you do based on your beliefs informed by
Christian faith?
