Living Into the Vision
At the May, 2003 meeting of the CCK Regional Board, a new vision was adopted for the
Christian Church In Kentucky. The vision is "that every CCK congregation
would reach its full Kingdom potential."
To effectively live into this new vision, the members of the Regional
Staff are exploring new ways of doing their ministries. We call this new
blueprint for Regional ministry, Xtreme Measures/ New
Horizons.
Xtreme Measures/New Horizons
Regional Component: Xtreme Measures/New
Horizons, the Regional component of the Vision, will
be lived out in four movements:
- A Congregational Multiplication Movement
- A Faithful, Effective and Innovative
Congregational Movement
- A Congregational Redevelopment Movement
- A Congregational Services Movement
All CCK ministries are being adapted to these four movements.
Becoming Communities of Prayer and Practice
Congregational Component: Becoming Communities of Prayer
and Practice, the Congregational component, is a way for the Regional Staff to come alongside congregations with
proven resources to help: a) discern God's will for a congregation (i.e.
Kingdom potential); and, b) develop the congregation's full Kingdom
potential. We believe congregations who are reaching their full Kingdom
potential will be "Xtreme"
congregations, at least by 20th century standards.
Dynamic Processes
Xtreme Measures/New Horizons and Becoming Communities of
Prayer and Practice are "dynamic" processes. They are
characterized by re-evaluation and revision through dialogue with pastors
and consultants, and through congregational experiences. They are not "one
size fits all" approaches. To give you some examples, Becoming
Communities of Prayer and Practice, in consultation with a CCK
Staff member, is being customized to each congregation to
provide for the unique make-up and context of each congregation. Different
congregational resources are utilized as determined by all involved. From
an Xtreme Measures/New Horizons perspective, The
"Congregational Multiplication Movement" identifies over 15 approaches for
congregations to start new congregations! There is nothing conventional
about effective ministry in the 21st century! That is why faithful,
effective and innovative congregations look "xtreme" from a 20th century
point of view
