Congregations becoming "missional" churches are
key to the Region's Re-invention process. A missional church is defined
as a congregation that intentionally seeks to answer the questions, "What
is God up to in our neighborhoods and communities?" and "What is
God calling us to do to part of God's mission there?"
Missional churches follow the model of the early church as described in
Luke 10 where the followers of Jesus take the initiative to awaken the people
beyond the walls of the church to the presence of God already among them.
This is done by walking alongside them through acts of hospitality and compassion.
It is done by working side by side with them to overcome the obstacles that
stand in the way of their full Kingdom potential as children of the living
God. It is to help us escape the prisons of our own making that keep us safely
locked in behind the walls of our church buildings and keep those we are
called to serve safely out sight, out of earshot and out of reach beyond
those walls.
Fourteen CCK congregations throughout Kentucky have signed up to be part
of the pilot phase of this stream of the re-invention process. Follow their
